At one time or another, we all say or think, “What if things were different?” What if I had chosen a different career? What if I had more money? What if I had married someone else? What if I hadn’t gotten sick? These are just a few. Something I learned along the way is not to fret over things we no longer have any choice over, if we had a choice at all. Instead, think about the present, where you are now, the what is. “What If? What Is?” Frankly, it is easy to reminisce about the good things we could have experienced if circumstances were different. However, it’s unproductive. In most instances, we feel heartache, pain, sadness, and even anger. Letting go of regretful thoughts will help us get through whatever we have to face. “What If? What Is?”
Without a doubt, as I think of how illness brought a change in direction to some things I want to do, I choose not to say, “What if?” One thing I always say is, “If it’s the Lord’s will,” or “If the Lord says the same.” Hence, God is in control, and who am I to question His plans? Therefore, I try to keep my eyes and focus on God’s goodness. As a result, my thinking can be joyful and full of peace that surpasses all understanding. “What If? What Is?” Through all that I have gone through, I relish what I have. Family is everything to me, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. As the Lord wills, we will have many great times together. I trust God!
In conclusion, if you are dwelling on what-ifs and thinking that your life should be different or better, stop now! Count your blessings for your life. We will all have trials and tribulations in this life, but I am glad to be alive. What about you? And Jesus said unto him, No man having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62.
Be encouraged, and God bless!
