“Am I Worth Fighting For?”

If anything is valuable to a person, they will do everything in their power to keep and preserve it. People have lost their lives fighting for something that they could easily replace. I am sure you have heard stories of people who were victims of robbery, and instead of letting go of their purse or car keys, etc. they fought to hold onto those items, sometimes even placing their very lives in danger.Don’t think of messing with anyone’s child or grandchild. Lord have mercy, I know you will get a fight from me! Why because they are so precious to me, and they are worth fighting for day or night! The lyrics of Brian Courtney Wilson’s song, “Worth Fighting For,” says it so well. If you haven’t heard it, please listen to it. The song lets us know it doesn’t matter what we may be going through, we are God’s children, and there is so much more in store for us, and those things are worth fighting for.

When life gets hard, it is easy to want to jump ship and give up and give in to the pressures of life. I remember a message God allowed me to preach years ago, and the subject was, “Don’t jump now!” with a subtext, “Sit your self down!” It is so much easier sometimes to get up and start running and never look back, but if something is worth fighting for, stop running and start fighting. You only run if running will help to save what you are trying to hold onto and struggling to keep.Let’s look at relationships we may have been in or may be in at present. Is the relationship worth fighting for and holding? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to keep that relationship intact? Is the person worth fighting for, no matter how hard it may be for you? Have you exhausted everything within you to win the battle? Sometimes, outside forces in the form of other people and circumstances make it very difficult for an individual to fight, but that is when you need to go into fervent prayer and continuous fasting to overcome those influences that make fighting so hard.

Let me give you a heartfelt example. An individual involved in an affair outside of their marriage needs to be saying, “My spouse, my family are worth fighting for.” We know that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and he will do that to a marriage when allowed. He makes the grass look greener in someone else’s yard. He doesn’t show you that the grass is going to wither and fade away eventually. He puts you on a limb and keeps you there long enough to get you to the point of nearly no return.Rebuke the devil and think about what’s important and worth fighting for. It’s not just the marriage, but most importantly, the soul and relationship with God. I know what it feels like to be the recipient of this heartbreak, and my thoughts are, Am I worth fighting for?  Is not the joy and kindness I have given you worth keeping? Are the other benefits you have garnered from this union, worth fighting for? Are the vows we made worth fighting for? Is my love not worth fighting for?

I could go on and on, but as I end this post, let me say to everyone you are worth fighting for when you are a child of God no matter how someone else may treat you. Remember, God thought we were worth fighting for when He sent His only Son to die on the cross to redeem us from our sins. Don’t hold your head down, neither doubt your self- worth, but know that you are worth every sacrifice. I know that I am. Even if someone didn’t have the strength or desire to fight the trickery of the devil to be faithful to me, I was and will forever be worth fighting for!!!! One man’s seemingly garbage is another man’s treasure when he finds it!!!!!! Last thought, it is hard fighting when the other person doesn’t want to fight to save what you are fighting for. I know that feeling, also, but stay in the race until God says I have another plan for you, my child. Feel my passion! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Watch Out For The Foxes!”

Be encouraged, and God bless!
