Did you ever ask someone for something, and once you got it, you rejected it? Maybe because you find out that it’s not what you really want or don’t want it anymore or are just afraid to accept whatever it is. Any of this sounds familiar? Sometimes when we ask for things, we live in the moment and try to get something that we need, but when the dust settles, and we have time to think about what we now have, we want to reject it. But, I ask you, “Why did you ask?”
Last year when the pandemic was raging, and we lost hundreds of lives daily, I asked God, I am sure, along with many others, to give the scientists/doctors the knowledge to create a Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccine could prayerfully help us to get back some normalcy in our life. Well, several vaccines came forth from the research, thank God. Once the vaccines got emergency approval, my first thought was to wait a while before getting the vaccine to see other people’s physical reactions. You may be saying, “Why did you ask?” Good question!
When we ask God for something, and He gives it to us, we have to trust Him and know confidently He does all things well. Before I continue, let me tell you, I made an appointment for the vaccine and got it when available. Why? Because I knew if God heard and gave an answer to my prayer, I would be alright. If I didn’t want an answer, I shouldn’t have sent up a petition before Him.
Likewise, when you ask God to heal your broken heart or lessen your loneliness, or give you a companion or husband, or change the one you have and He does it, but maybe not in the manner you desire, or with the person you want, do you reject His gift? If you do, then, “Why did you ask? I am learning that asking God for something is just the first step. Next, faith has to be the force to make us trust God’s infinite wisdom and plans for our life. If we trust Him, our asking is not in vain.
In the end, we must leave the details of our life to our master planner. He knows what is best for each of us. Nothing is beyond His thoughts and control. So, let not our asking or petitioning God be in vain. Don’t ask and then doubt my sisters. If you do, then, “Why did you ask?” But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind tossed. James 1:6. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “What Is For Me Is For Me!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
