When I was writing this post, the Uvalde, Texas, mass school shooting occurred in which 19 children died and two teachers. About ten days before this shooting, another one happened in Buffalo at a grocery store, killing ten black individuals. There was another killing at a church in California. Each time I hear of these heinous acts of violence, I cringe. My tears flow for those who are suffering in the aftermath. Having moments of silence, saying, “this is awful,” is not cutting it anymore. It is time to “Take A Stand!”
Accordingly, you may ask what you can do. Pray, trust, and believe God in all matters, but it’s time to do more. Faith without works is dead. Consequently, conversations about what happened with no action are dead and lead to more senseless deaths. Individuals put in power through votes are the ones to enact change. Indeed, they have the ability to create strict gun laws. Nevertheless, as long as we sit quiet and accept their non-compliance and disregard for humanity, we also bear the blame for the loss of life. We must “Take A Stand!”
As I conclude, I tie this post in with my message of healing broken relationships. Our country needs healing. There is so much division and divisiveness. Needless acts of violence break families apart incident after incident. Therefore, as primaries are happening across the country and run-offs occur, be involved and vote. Let’s get the best candidates in the running to help diminish some of the atrocities we face. Can they do it all? No. We have to do our part and “Take A Stand!” And without a doubt, let’s adhere to 2 Chronicles 7:14. God bless and comfort the families who bear the loss of loved ones. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “I Can Fly!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
