Life is moving by so quickly. Before a month begins, it feels like we’re already halfway through it. A new month soon rolls right into our lives. Wow! When I was a child, I thought time moved so slowly. I couldn’t wait until spring break from school, or Easter, our summer vacation, or Thanksgiving, or Christmas! It took forever for those special times to happen. However, now, before you can say Happy New Year ten times, we are off into the next month, and then the next one, and the cycle moves on. Where did the days of old go? As you get older, if you are like me, you no longer desire to rush your life. I actually want it to “Slow Down!” Why? As each new day comes to light, so do the many challenges, problems, and heartaches we all face from time to time. The many seasons of life come and go.
Hence, even more importantly, it is one less day we have to be with those we love and cherish. My dear readers, I hope you take time during this season of thankfulness to truly savour each moment you have with family and dear friends. For all of us, our days are numbered by the Lord, and even if we live to be three hundred years old, do you really feel it’s enough time with loved ones? Not for me. No time is enough for me. Family is everything, and life is precious. Therefore, “Slow Down!” Take time to smell the roses, to do something for yourself. You will not be selfish for doing that.
Without a doubt, I believe God wants us to enjoy our lives and all He has for us. We can’t do that if we allow other issues, circumstances, or individuals to more often than not consume our very being. Let me ask you one question before I end. Although I cannot hear your answer, be honest with yourself. First, stand in front of a mirror with no one nearby and ask yourself out loud, “Am I sincerely happy? There is no judgment for whatever answer you give (remember, no one is listening). Nevertheless, if you answer, “No”, last ask yourself, “What am I going to do about it?
I conclude this post now, by repeating, “Slow Down!”Life is so short, and we can miss out on great opportunities if we let another day pass us by. Thereby contributing to our misery! Choose life, choose God’s goodness over your life. Be joyful, and “Slow Down!” to the misery that wants to hold you captive. In all things, give thanks, even when it’s hard to do. When we keep our eyes lifted to Jesus, He brings peace that surpasses all understanding. Assuredly, hurrying will steal our peace. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Twelve Gifts Of Christmas!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
