“Sifting to Shifting!”

I attribute this post to a recent conversation I had with someone. The person shared a sermon about how the devil desires to sift us(remember Peter) like wheat. Sifting as wheat can imply shaking us apart or breaking us down. Have you been going through anything in life that makes you feel like you are going through a sifting process? When the devil sifts us, it is to try our faith in God. Satan wants to shake our faith with such force that it will cause us to doubt who Jesus is and what He can do. But God! We will move from “Sifting to Shifting!”

Shifting, the act of moving or changing from one position or direction to another, is a powerful concept in our faith walk. As Satan attempts to destroy our relationship with God and with others, it is God’s divine shift that turns these situations in another direction. What the devil intends for evil, our glorious Savior turns to our advantage! “Sifting to Shifting” is the miraculous work of God. Despite our trials, no matter how many fiery darts come at us, the devil will not shake us. His role is to sift, but God will shift us if we steadfastly hold on to our faith in Him.

Without a doubt, there is a time in our lives when our faith in God is evident. Nevertheless, situations or people may cause us to shake and lose some of our faith momentum. It happens because we are humans and frail, but God is all-powerful. And if we focus on Him, we won’t allow the devil to sift us for long. Hence, as we stand on the promises of God and who He is, our minds will shift, and our joy will be complete. “Sifting to Shifting!” will come if we keep our mind on who Jesus is.

Understandably, it is easy to give up hope when so much despair surrounds us. But remember that what you are going through is only a test, and all tests have an expiration date! Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Do What You Can!”

Be encouraged, and God bless!
