“See the Mercy, Not Just the Grace!”

What is mercy? It is compassion or forgiveness toward others with the power to punish. What is grace? It is God’s favor we do not deserve. Now that we have the definitions clear let’s consider those two powerful words in our lives. Everyone loves favors, and how often do we say we are blessed and highly favored? That is a favorite for Christians, and we all experience God’s favor at times in our lives. But what about mercy? How many times are we recipients of God’s mercy? Undoubtedly, when punishment should have been our lot, we have mercy instead. “See the Mercy, Not Just the Grace!”

Hence, we serve such an awesome God, one who loves us so much. As natural children do things they should not, and the parent forgives them, it is also with God. For instance, He specifically tells us to go left, and we go to the right, smack into trouble. Although it is truly our fault, His mercy is in need at that time. Thank God for His mercy. Never should mercy be taken for granted. Furthermore, more often than not, we deserve some of the punishments that we could avoid. Additionally, having the favor of God when we need something we would not otherwise have is wonderful. Nevertheless, “See the Mercy, Not Just the Grace!”

Therefore, as we go through life daily, we shall encounter many situations. Our jobs, homes, relationships, finances, and so on will put us in need of much mercy from others. As others show compassion and forgiveness toward our deeds, we must also extend compassion and forgiveness to others. Some battles we should leave alone. Choose your battles. Give leniency if you can. Consider the needs of others. Our problems should not always be at the forefront.

Henceforth, expect God’s favor, but give love and mercy to others who need it due to their circumstance. Are you grateful for your life? Think about it. I am deeply thankful for my life, and yes, I appreciate the favor of God, but I thank Him most for His mercy. “See the Mercy, Not Just the Grace!” Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luke 6:36. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Divine Reversal!

Be encouraged, and God bless!
