“Put Someone Else First!”

In times of constant change and uncertainty, it can be tempting to focus on our own needs above all else. Is it all right to take care of our necessities and needs? Definitely so, and sometimes our needs may be urgent. God knows our hearts and sees all. Nevertheless, there are times when others are in dire need, which goes beyond monetary needs. How many people do you know who are struggling with everyday challenges that are overwhelming and beyond words?  Due to the times we live in, I am sure you can name quite a few.  Notwithstanding, “Put Someone Else First!” when you can be a blessing.
 
Everyone, from time to time, needs someone with a good listening ear. Other times, our words can be comforting when someone is going through a hardship, a financial problem, an illness, or various other situations. Know also that money is not the answer in many cases. Money cannot buy true friendship, or restore a sincere relationship, or render comfort or peace. So whenever you have the opportunity, intentionally put someone else first. Offer genuine kindness, a listening ear, or encouraging words. When we think of others, we are exhibiting Christ-like characteristics. “Put Someone Else First!”
 
In summation, take time to help others as they go through challenging times. As the government shutdown appears to be ongoing, trust God for your needs and be grateful for all His provisions. Extend love and support to those who are not as strong in their faith and have let fear overtake them. As we approach the holiday season, many will feel discouragement, hopelessness, despair, and anguish. Let’s pray diligently for those in need or want. Share when you can, and sometimes just simply say with pleasure I will “Put Someone Else First!” If you have the opportunity, will you share some of your experiences of looking beyond your needs and seeing the needs of others? Examples we set can benefit many. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 11:25. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Hold Onto Hope!”
