Have you ever been traveling and got caught in a terrible rainstorm? It can be not very comforting, especially if you are driving on the highway long distance. My dad always taught me never to pull over on the side of the road because it is hazardous and could cause me harm. Instead, he would say it is better to exit the highway and pull over to a gas station or other safe area. Well, I always wanted to keep moving, especially if I had a long journey ahead of me, so instead, I relied on the word of God and remembered how the wind and the waves obeyed His will. I would tell the rainstorm, “Peace be Still!”
Following those three words each time I spoke them, the rain would start to slack off to give me clear visibility and often completely stop, even if for a short time. I never had to exit the highway because I could not see the road in front of me. God’s word is so wonderfully impressive! The God in us can speak boldly to our adversaries and the difficulties we encounter in life. Everything on this earth is subject to the power and will of God. I have been speaking to the physical rainstorms for as long as I can remember, and God honors my request as I say, “Peace be Still!”
So accordingly, if the rain obeys His will, don’t you know everything else follows suit? Sometimes we are afraid to trust God for little things in our lives, and therefore it’s more difficult to trust Him for the vast problems we encounter. My sisters, do you truly trust God to take care of you in every situation? Or are there areas in your life you don’t entrust in His care? There should be nothing that you fear talking to Him in prayer and supplication. Don’t be afraid to tell your heartache, pain, woes, tears, and any difficulties in your life, “Peace be Still!” They are all subject to the almighty, omnipotent, sovereign God.
To sum it all up, we can not trust God for some things; it must be for all situations in our life. Take command when life is not treating you well and your days or nights are more stormy than peaceful. Go to Him as the disciples did when the wind and sea became turbulent while they were on a ship. Jesus cared for them and rebuked the wind and the sea, which immediately became calm. He is no respecter of person. Allow Him to bring peace to your life. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Unspeakable Joy!”
Love it! Very well stated Sis. And truly speaking for myself, to be still, I NEED “peace”. But I know that we all need it. And again just speaking for myself, first, I need peace in order to be able to be still, especially when experiencing turbulence in life. For truly we need to “calm down” before we can be still. Such a Word for me today, for I GREATLY value my “peace”. For to me, it is “priceless”!
Truly Nothing can compare to “true” peace, in our mind, body, and in our souls, given us through our Blessed Saviour, Jesus, who can truly calm the raging sea, the storms of life, and restore our hope of safety through his POWER!!!!!
Thank you for sharing Sis, and may our loving God continue to richly bless you with His peace.
Thank you. Yes, so true, my sister; peace helps us tremendously in our journey to be “still.” There is nothing like the stillness and peace that our Savior provides. Thank you for those great, encouraging words. May stillness and peace surround and overtake you as only Jesus Christ can give. Blessings to you.
Loved this! We have to believe we have power as He said through the Holy Spirit. Speak life and not death into all our situations. Peace, be still!
Yes! We must have faith and believe that the things we say through Christ Jesus will conquer any situation, no matter the size or intensity. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. May the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ keep you in perfect peace. God bless you!
Praise God for the power of His word.
Thanking Him for the peace that surpasses our understanding.
For 25 years or more, I was a member of church that did outreach every Sunday, minus one, at a park.
We fed, ministered to and clothe the homeless.
Many times the weather was not conducive for outside feeding; however, we would pray and ask the Father to stop the rain until the feeding and the word was done.
Oh how my Father would grant our request over and over again.
Some years later, the park built Gazebo’s to help shelter us from the extreme conditions.
We serve a mighty God.
On another note: know that peace will always accompany FAITH.
Thanks again Jackie for challenging us to think and dig deeper into the word.
Won’t God do it every time! Thank you for those insightful comments. And what a blessing for the work your church ministry did week after week. Yes, without faith and believing God is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him, many things would not come to fruition. God bless you, and may heavenly peace give you added joy day by day!
