“Only God can Erase!”

Merriam-Webster defines eraser as a device {such as a piece of rubber or a felt pad) used to erase marks (as of ink or chalk). Oh, how I wish I could delete some of the things that have happened in my life that has caused me great heartache and pain.  Imagine if you had a great eraser that could magically erase everything wrong in your life! Wow! This post was prompted by a text conversation that I had with someone who is experiencing overwhelming heartache, brokenness, and pain. The individual expressed how they needed to erase some of the messed up things in their life.  My reply was, “Only God can erase. You don’t have the right eraser!”

Remember when you were in school, and you had pencils with erasers or stand-alone erasers? Oh, how we would erase and erase every time we made a mistake. We deleted the error before the teacher could see it. Then we would take the pile of eraser shavings and knock them off our desk with our hand or blow them off. That fixed our problem. Well, in life, things happen to us that we would like to erase until nothing is left, but small reminders (the shavings) and we can easily blow them away. It’s not that easy.

Pain can be so deep that it becomes a constant focus for us. Nothing seems to be able to stop the thoughts. But, God has the right eraser. His unconditional love, grace, and mercy can erase any heartache from our mind and heart. What we once perceived as messed up, as heartwrenching, as unbearable can be blown away. Is the misdeed erased? No. Is it now justified? No.  Will it yet be in our memory bank? Yes. But the pain will be deleted — no more to taunt and tear us apart emotionally.

I know God can erase the pain. How? He did it for me. Glory Hallelujah! I am free; I am free; I am free! Let God do it for you. Let Him erase your pain. Agonizing over it, trying to repay or harass the offender will only keep you in bondage. God will repay everyone, including the offended for what they do.  Only God can erase!  These things I have spoken unto you,  that in me ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.  St. John 16:33. I’ll be back next week with a new post, ” The Cycle of Next Time!”

Be encouraged, and God bless!
