Bees swarm together while birds flock together. Fish of like-kind travel in schools. Each of these species knows who they are. God created man in his image and gave each individual a plan and purpose of being. The question is do we see the intent and purpose God has set for our life. Sometimes I believe that we underestimate the power that God has placed within us. We fail to realize who we are. Know who you are!
Hence, it’s a new year, and this pandemic continues to give me time to think. What about you? I was sitting one day thinking about my life and things of the past. It’s not expedient to dwell in the past, but sometimes a quick look doesn’t hurt. On this particular day, I was feeling somewhat lonesome. I don’t feel like this often, but sometimes loneliness can creep in. I thought about why I am alone. What is the purpose? Do you have these thoughts sometimes? Loneliness may occur even when other people surround us. Sometimes loneliness is a state of mind. Know who you are!
Accordingly, when we understand God’s purpose for our life, we can live our life to that purpose. This year I want to pursue a more excellent relationship with God and live in the plan of God. Simultaneously, it’s good to desire personal relationships with others. We need those also. Everyone needs companionship, whether they admit it or not. God didn’t design us to be alone. He made that known at the beginning of creation. But, we should all strive to have a more glorious relationship with God, and everything else in our life will fall into place. For this purpose, we must purpose in our hearts to strengthen our spiritual connection to God.
In conclusion, what is the point and essence of this post? It is merely a reminder to make our foremost relationship goal one with God. Know who you are. If you don’t know the purpose God has for your life, or you can not understand why you are not in the relationship you desire, whether you are single or married, speak with God. Single women, you may wish to be in a relationship with a significant other or be married. Some women are married and nowhere near happy or joyful in the marriage. Again, God has a plan.
When you know who you are in Christ and how He wants to use you for His glory, it will shed some light on your situation. If you are struggling in a marriage because of problems that are hampering a genuine bond, could it be that God is using you as a vessel to be a light to your husband? There is much to ponder, single or married. Know Who You Are! There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Change Is Coming!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!

So true, knowing who we are is essential to our well-being. And this is a complex and powerful topic, but truly something we need to seriously and thoroughly look at. Because not knowing who we are can lead to much heartache, confusion and regretful mistakes, especially when it comes to the subject of loneliness, and, we need to know who we are also just for the sake of a healthy and fruitful life. I think also, as you stated, loneliness can be a state of mind, whether perceived physically alone, or in the midst of a crowd. And sometimes the negativity of feeling lonely simply is the enemy trying to break us, and sadly many have fallen to this. But knowing who we are on the spiritual, empowers us.
Thank you again for these words of encouragement, to uplift us. For there is no greater knowledge to have victory in than to know who we are in this ever changing world, especially when these attacks on our emotions, mind, and heart hit the hardest and the deepest.
Personally, I am soooooooooo glad that I can say that, I am often brought to myself, brought back into remembrance that I am NEVER alone, for Jesus is with me, for The Holy Spirit comforts me and keeps my mind, as I strive to keep my mind on Our Lord. For in Jesus alone we KNOW who we are, and this alone sustains us, through it all.
Glad that I know above all, that “you’ my friend, are my Sister-in-Christ!!! Love You Sis!
Thank you for those enlightening and thoughtful comments. The essence of it all is that we must never forget that we are NEVER alone if we have Christ in our life! May the grace and abounding love of our Savior continue to keep and gracefully bless you! And having such wonderful Sisters -in- Christ adds to our joy and helps us keep going further! Thank you, Sis.!
Great Question; thought provoking and complex.
If we’re thinking inside the box (so to speak), who we think we are is a sum total of what “many” has to say; many, being your friends, parents, employers, family, old slu-foot (please disregard all that he says).etc.
Now let’s climb out of the box and into the Bible.
What/who does God our Father say that I am?
Contrary to what the mind and the mirror tells us, (believe everything God says about you)
That seals your DNA identity and your RNA character.
Regarding loneliness; being alone doesn’t always mean you’re lonely; but I too have experienced loneliness.
The few but memorable times were when I was in a room filled with people/friends and family.
Great thoughts! You are so right; we often equate who we are by what others say about us. But, what God says about us should be our only concern! Thank you for sharing, and may God continue to keep you in perfect peace as His love surrounds you.
