“Keep Your Mustard Seed!”

Over a year or so ago, my first lady gave the women at church a small plastic container, by which, with a glance, you would think it was empty. A close look revealed a tiny mustard seed inside. I held on to this seed and almost forgot about it. One day it caught my attention. My mind connected the seed with the biblical context. Matthew 13: 31-32 gives the parable of the mustard seed. You can read it at your leisure, but I want to point out one thing. The bible describes it as “the least of all seeds,” but it is the greatest among herbs when it grows. Keep your mustard seed!

Henceforth, I know you are wondering how the mustard seed fits in with relationships? Well, let me give you my connection. This season, we know that meeting and connecting with someone is a little more difficult due to our need to stay within our bubble. So, losing faith can sometimes creep into our life, especially being unsure when this pandemic will be over. Even with a vaccine in the making, the end is not here yet for the virus infection.

Moreover, looking at that small mustard seed, someone would need a miracle to find it if ever dropped. But, when allowed to grow, the seed will manifest itself into a giant tree. Consequently, we must hold onto our faith and let it grow like the mustard seed- imagine the results. A little faith goes a long way. Ladies, I encourage you today to keep holding on. Never give up. Believe that you are not on this journey alone. God has not forgotten you. It is easy to be discouraged, upset, and depressed when desiring companionship with the holidays here. The absence of a unique relationship, along with so many other challenges, is disheartening. Please don’t give up! Keep your mustard seed!

Additionally, remember that seasons are temporary. Each one has an expiration. Don’t allow one season of life to dominant your well-being. In the natural cycle of seasons, spring follows winter. The cold wintry days precede a new beginning for growth and some warmth. So, it is with life. Keep trusting and believing that better days are ahead. Have the faith of a mustard seed and allow your faith to grow and sustain you in these days.

In conclusion, look up, my sisters, and be ye encouraged. Keep your mustard seed! And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17: 20. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Am I My Sister’s Keeper?”

Be encouraged, and God bless!

Amen Sis…I too believe that we can’t have too much faith. Thank you for sharing these words of encouragement, to hold on to our faith, and believing that no matter how small we may feel our faith is, it can grow into bigger faith when we nurture it. So amazing how powerful even a small amount of faith is. As I build up myself on my most Holy faith, this truly encourages me to keep building up my faith as a main focus in all areas of my life, even in my relationships with others. ….Remembering that A “little” faith can do a BIG job!!!
God Bless You and Yours during this Season of Hope!!!
