How much time do we all spend procrastinating when something needs to be done? Over and over, we put things aside that could be done in a few minutes, an hour, or in a day. Naturally, some individuals are just comfortable saying ‘tomorrow’ or ‘in a day or two’. Well, that may work for some natural activities, but not for spiritual things. The days are more evil each day. Hence, we can’t put off forgiveness, praying, fasting, reading our bible, exhibiting love toward others, repairing relationships, and so on. It’s time to “Just Do It!” Life is not only short, but unpredictable. Our last breath can be closer than we think. Each day we wake up can bring unimaginable events our way. Growing up, racial unrest, riots, and other societal woes happened, but in comparison to today’s world, child’s play!
Recently, it has been in my heart to write about having a better spiritual relationship with our Savior. That I believe is going to be the only way we survive the calamities of this world. Relationships overall are struggling on many levels. Parents and children don’t get along. Many spousal relationships are not good. Work environments are stressful. Financial and economic woes plague us. So, do we accept life as it is and worry, or do we seek help from the God of our salvation? Falling apart and stressing over everything brings on more issues, such as with our health. Those of us who know the Lord also know from whence cometh our help. With that said, why is He sometimes at the bottom of our list when trouble comes? I am trying to learn before I get in a tizzy to rely on my faith and trust in God. “Just Do It!” Trust God first, seek Him first, and rely on Him first.
As I end, let’s make the effort not to procrastinate concerning spiritual things. Staying in the Word of God, following His commandments, seeking His guidance and wisdom is a starting point. Avoiding discouragement by focusing on the goodness of God takes us further on our spiritual journey. Assuredly, heartache, heartbreak, and other issues will seek to destroy our spiritual connection to God. Nevertheless, always remember who and whom you can depend on. Sometimes it takes putting one foot in front of the other and “Just Do It!” But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy 4:29. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “ Prayer Brings Us Peace!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
