“Iron Sharpens Iron!”

Most people are familiar with the phrase, “iron sharpens iron.” It is most times seen as a positive saying. Theoretically, iron sharpening iron is possible. But, it would be best if you used irons of different hardness. What does this mean in terms of people interactions? It denotes an improvement process through positive interactions between individuals. Specifically, one individual can improve the demeanor, talent, and strength of someone else. As with natural iron, one individual sharpens another by bringing out the best in them. “Iron Sharpens Iron!”

Moreover, in time we can all become rusty, slightly decayed, or dull. We may lose some of our sharpness. The loss causes a decline in our thinking, performance, and general being. Aging and loss of sharpness are inevitable in this life. Sometimes heartaches, burdens, frustration, and the storms of life cause dullness.

However, we don’t have to remain as such. Do you like to prepare food with a blade that barely cuts? I am sure the answer is no. Specifically, it is time-consuming and frustrating. It is also a waste of our precious time. Hence, we need sharpening to take place. “Iron Sharpens Iron!”

Therefore, sharpening, buffing, and polishing can bring forth potential. Also, it brings forth the capacity to be productive. Thus, just like a piece of iron or a knife blade needs a sharpener, we need one too. In like manner, someone who can sharpen our character. My sisters, we need each other.

Accordingly, speak positivity with every opportunity that comes your way. Primarily, having honest, genuine conversations with people are essential. Those conversations can give much-needed support and revitalization. “Iron Sharpens Iron!”

Significantly, we can gain strength by leaning on our sisters. Especially when discouraged, heartbroken, busted, and disgusted. Assuredly, we will gain some empowerment in this race of life. Please realize that you don’t have to walk this journey alone. Most critically, God is with you. He will place others in your life. Those placements will help you through life’s daily struggles and challenges.

In conclusion, let someone’s iron sharpen the iron in you. It may shine more brightly. Then, one day you can pay it forward. Ask God to make you an iron sharpener. Then uplift those who require encouragement and support. “Iron Sharpens Iron!” Are you ready to sharpen someone? Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “I Rise Again!”

Be encouraged, and God bless!

Love This! You truly explained it with clarity in detail! For I too am a witness that iron can sharpen iron, for the strong can help the weak. For I have been sharpened by others, and pray that I too have sharpened others also. For we can lift one another up, and likewise, we can tear one another down.
Your post made me think of the song “I Need You To Survive” by Hezekiah Walker. In the part where he sings “Stand with me, Agree with me,”, I see it as meaning, encourage me, help lift me up, don’t tear me down!
This is so on time for what we are going through in the World today, for if there was a time in our lifetime that we ever needed to help lift up one another, it sure is NOW. Thank you so much for sharing this. This post was truly heartfelt, and Praying that it touches the heart of all that read it.
Thank you for continuing the cause of encouraging us, of helping to “sharpen” us.

    “I Need You To Survive”
“I need you, You need me, We’re all a part of God’s body.
Stand with me, Agree with me, We’re all a part of God’s body.
It is His will that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
I pray for you, You pray for me.
I love you, I need you to survive.
I won’t harm you, With words from my mouth.
I love you, I need you to survive”. – ( lyrics by Hezekiah Walker)

Thank you for those uplifting comments! I love that song because we truly need each other to survive more than ever. As we encourage someone else, it sharpens them and makes us a better person too. God bless you, and heaven smile upon you as you continue to be the “sharpener” that you are.
