Most of us spend time ensuring that everyone around us is doing well. It may be at work, home, our community, or even our place of worship. However, there comes a time when we need to evaluate our resources and time and utilize some towards developing ourselves. “Invest In Yourself!” Is it selfish to want to have good things for yourself? Or do you desire to be pampered and made to feel special? There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling either way.
Of course, knowing that we may support others is fulfilling, but sometimes, we give so much of ourselves away that there is little left to cultivate our interests or well-being. As I think of relationships, I want you to ponder a few questions. How often do you enjoy the good things life has to offer? Does your giving, which can be material/ resources or valuable time, support someone else’s lifestyle or dreams? Is your living as fruitful to you as it is to others? With all said you may be wondering what my message is. Well, here it is. “Invest In Yourself!” at some point in your life so you have fewer disappointments or regrets.
Unfortunately, many individuals build their relationships, whether family, personal, or other types, based on what they can receive from someone else. But when the rubber hits the road, they are flat and dry because many of their needs are unmet. On the other hand, one may give to others to satisfy many of their needs, and they are left high with disappointment. Never, and I repeat, never depend on your well-being resulting from someone’s actions or non-actions toward you. “Invest In Yourself!”
As I end this post, I recall more times than not that I catered to everyone else’s needs so they could be happy. Going above and beyond has always been me. It didn’t matter if I was not smiling as long as the other individual had a smile. Do I regret fulfilling the needs of others so they can enjoy life? No. I love being a helping hand, but I also know that sometimes, my hand enables and causes others to become too dependent and less responsible.
My dear sisters, especially those of you who desire relationships or are in the beginning stage of a relationship, know that you are not to be the lead. Am I correct? Allow yourself royal treatment, and most of all, don’t neglect to “Invest In Yourself!” and enjoy the fruits of your labor. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. Proverbs 31:16. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Channel Your Thoughts!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!

Love it! You truly touched all the bases on this subject, “Invest In Yourself!”. This spoke to me the most “Unfortunately, many individuals build their relationships, whether family, personal, or other types, based on what they can receive from someone else.” This is truly a compound statement. And I also have noticed that some even base their relationships on what they do for someone else. For me, embracing how to unapologetically invest in myself without seeking the approval of others, is an act of genuine pure self-love.
This is a powerful post! For so many fall short and forget to show love to themselves. So this post is a reminder to me, to do better in this area. And may God continually bless you as you share your wisdom with others.
I love your comments, especially “For me, embracing how to unapologetically invest in myself without seeking the approval of others is an act of genuine pure self-love.” This statement says it all!!! Too often, we are apologetic to others when we do something for ourselves. We need to stop apologizing and take some time in life’s journey to invest in ourselves. Loving others and not loving ourselves is truly lopsided! May God’s shower of blessings rain down on you, Sis. Audrey! Thank you for sharing.
Very well said! Thank you and God Bless You!
God bless you!
What a profound way to say to us “You are worth it, “Invest in yourself”! Thank you! So many times we don’t stop and realize the importance of investing in ourselves. I believe we find the balance while meeting the requirement of ‘loving our neighbor as ourself, when we do both, ie, do what we can for others and also, investing in ourselves!! Very well said! To God be the glory and thanks for sharing !❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for those insightful comments! Finding balance is the key. Thank you for saying that. We can love and invest in others while doing the same for ourselves, and no one is left behind. God’s grace be upon you, and mercy follow you all the days of your life!
