How do you look at life? Do you see it as “Half Empty or Half Full?” The way you perceive your life helps determine how you perceive yourself. What is the difference between the two? People who view life as half-empty have a less-than-positive outlook on situations. They often may not be as hopeful in trying times, and the Lord knows we are living in a different time. At the same time, individuals with a half-full view may be more hopeful. These are just my opinions. Nevertheless, anything that is considered “empty” to me appears to be lacking something. “Half Empty or Half Full?”
Let’s focus on relationships in particular. Do you see your relationships as “Half Empty or Half Full?” Are your thoughts leaning more toward the deficiencies in the relationship or the other person’s faults? On the other hand, can you look beyond the faults? Therefore, see those things that are good, kind, or helpful. Without a doubt, no relationship comes without challenges at some point or another. Although, the real test is how we respond and act toward the other individual. Our interactions can either exacerbate the situation or mitigate it. Which do you prefer to do?
In essence, if we look at situations or people with a more positive outlook, we can see that there is room for growth. Why? Because anything that is half full can become more full if we pour into it. Now, a half-empty glass can become fuller if we pour something into it as well. However, typically, something is half full sometimes due to a lack of input. Please understand what I am trying to say. When we begin to feel empty, it is usually because life has thrown a lot our way. “Half Empty or Half Full?”
Someone who is going through this right now recently said to me that things (challenging things) keep coming one after another. We all experience that feeling from time to time. If it’s not one thing, it’s another! We eventually move toward emptiness. But I declare that when we take the time to see what others are going through, our glass fills up with gratefulness. “Half Empty or Half Full?” For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Return to the Route!”
