Last year I wrote a post, “Give Yourself a Gift to Remember!” If you haven’t read it, you can find the post in the December 2019 archives. In the post, I asked everyone to give themself a special life-changing relationship gift. I hope that those of you who read the post did that. It’s not too late to share your self-donation in the comments section if you like. Well, if you didn’t, and to the new readers, you have the opportunity to do so now. Do you believe that you deserve a gift in this season of joy? I do. Give yourself a gift to remember 2!
The day I wrote this post, I was in conversation with someone experiencing many heartaches in their life. I encouraged the individual as best as I could. As I listened intently to the person’s anguished cry and grief, I felt the pain. But, I know there is a solution.
Accordingly, the person needs to give themself a life-changing gift of a relationship with the Lord. As I ministered to the individual, I reminded the person of developing such a relationship. Every relationship holds its importance, but none more important than a relationship with our Savior. For that reason, in the spirit of Christmas and the reason for the season, we need to ensure we have a relationship with Jesus Christ. As I further engaged with the broken-hearted individual, I reminded the person that the only way to have any joy amid life’s turmoil is to know and live for Jesus. Is a saved person’s life without trials? No. The difference between the saved and unsaved is an advocator interceding and carrying us when our strength fails.
Consequently, Covid-19 has changed so much in our life. If you are like me, I grieve for everyone who is experiencing the loss of someone close to them, losing financial resources, and losing their health. Looking at life at face value, it appears that we don’t have much to be grateful for, but that is not correct. We should have a heart full of gratitude. If you are reading this post, it means you are alive. That is a gift. Give yourself a gift to remember 2!
This year is like no other, but we cannot allow Covid-19 to steal our joy. Gift yourself with spiritual things that will uplift you and soothe you when everything is falling apart. Pamper you. Love you. Give yourself a gift to remember. It’s time to draw closer to God. I told someone recently if people don’t draw close to God during this time, when will they do so?
Moreover, let’s move our focus for a moment beyond our personal needs and desires. Let’s genuinely celebrate Jesus’ birthday by gifting Him our whole self. Buying gifts should not be the main focus of this Christmas season, nor worrying about having a mate. Give yourself a gift to remember that will go beyond the Christmas season. Be joyful, my sisters. Love God, and love yourself! A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs 18:16. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Real Peace!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
