It’s that time again when, instead of being upbeat and joyful, people are sad and depressed. I was reading something right before Thanksgiving, and the writer sought to determine if people dread the holidays. I actually gave a response to their question. For me, the holidays bring so much joy and good times, but I realize the holidays are far from a happy time for many individuals. Nonetheless, “Don’t Dread!”
Although so many disturbing things are happening in this world and even closer in our neighborhoods, jobs, and homes, we have many blessings. I recently was reading about how suicide rates are increasing. What a shame! Life is precious. In fact, in reality, what do we really have to complain about? I cannot think of anything that warrants a complaint from me. “Don’t Dread!”
As this joyful season continues, I encourage each of you dear readers to bask in the valid reason for the season. True joy begins within ourselves and then spreads outward. Hence, we alone can only choose our state of mind. Replace sadness with happiness and joyfulness, tears with laughter, and misery with gratitude for God’s mighty works. Without a doubt, no second should cause us to lament over things we most likely cannot change.
Therefore, dear hearts, “Don’t Dread!” but instead, spend your time spreading love and kindness to make someone’s heart merry during this beautiful season. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. John 16:22. I’ll be back next week with a new post, “Jesus is Everything!”
Be encouraged, and God bless!
