“Closing the Chapter!”

Wow! I can hardly believe that we are at the end of another year. It seems like yesterday we were walking into 2019, and now we are closing out this year and beginning a new year in another 24 hours. Allow me to start by saying before I move on how grateful I am to have you my readers taking this journey with me. Thank you for your comments through the post, the texts that you send, the weekly words of encouragement through telephone calls and in-person, and the support that you so graciously have given time and time again.

The end of a year usually is the beginning for people to think about new resolutions for the upcoming year. But, before that happens, some chapters in our book of life need to close. Think about what is the present chapter of your life. Does it contain pain, heartache, loneliness, worry, disappointment, or other scenarios that you would like to close out of your life? Now is the time to have a self-examination and look at what you may need to do differently in the new year. Hopefully, you gave yourself a special gift ( remember last week’s post?) to help you on the way. We shouldn’t walk into 2020 if God’s mercy allows us to see the new year with the same situations looming over us.

I love to read, and as I read sometimes, I can’t wait until one chapter closes to see what the next one will bring. I always hope that whatever unpleasant things might be in the present chapter of the book will be better or maybe even eliminated in the next section. We all have different seasons that we travel through in life. Everything won’t always be rosy. Thorns will grow along the way. God gives us some power to change things in our life. Our actions and deeds or lack of cause chapters in our life to either continue in the same trend or get better or worse. If you are unsure of what you may need to do or how to do something that will help you to have a more productive life in the new year, seek God for guidance. Some things we need to forget and leave in the past. Dwelling there keeps us further away from reaching a new area in our life.

Sometimes closing a chapter means changing not only situations but people in our life. Whatever doesn’t enhance us and make us better or drags us down may need to be let go. Let God help you in this area. Not an easy decision to make at times. That’s why we need to keep God at the helm of our life. Sometimes we even find our self at a crossroad struggling with whether or not we should allow someone we have let go to reenter our life. I had a conversation with someone recently concerning this issue. I will address this later in another post.

As I end this last post of 2019, I encourage you to work on closing the unhealthy, unfruitful chapters of your life. Once you can do that, you may find that life flows a little bit smoother. Just strengthening what is already productive will move you further along in life. Happy and blessed New Year to you! Wishing you God’s best in 2020! Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? Isaiah 43: 18-19. I’ll be back next week ( and a new year!) with a new post, “20/20 Vision!”

Be encouraged, and God bless!

Marie Kondo came up with The KonMari method. It’s a system of simplifying and organizing your home by getting rid of physical items that do not bring joy into your life. And I plan to apply the same thing spiritually and emotionally (working on the physical one since I like to horde things LOL) in 2020. Getting rid of things and people that do not bring me joy. Thank you for sharing this and I pray nothing but God’s blessings upon you in 2020!

Thank you so much for sharing those thoughts. Clutter is just what it is a clutter and needs removal so that there is more room for things that add joy to our life. My prayer for you is the same. Added blessings and much joy in 2020 to you!

Amen, “Letting Go, Getting rid of, Moving on to the next, and, Starting Fresh “, ALL can be a HUGE challenge, …at least I know it is a real challenge for me at times. Praying “God’s HELP” in the New Year of 2020, to use my “Natural and Spiritual Vision” to see clearer and DO better. May God Bless You in a special way in 2020. Love you my dear Sister-in-Christ!!!
