Usually, people start rattling off a series of New Year’s resolutions every New Year. Some they will accomplish, and some they will forget about along the way. It’s better not to make a vow and break it. I don’t choose to make any resolutions, but I always ask God to give me more of a praying spirit to draw me closer to Him. Hence, as I review my life over the last year, I think about many things. I could have done some things differently. With that in mind, as I think of how situations came about and my response, I ponder, was it “A Blessing Or A Lesson?” Some trials come our way to bless us, and others are to teach us a lesson.

Therefore, taking a little time to review our life’s journey can help us move forward and not make some of the same mistakes we made in the past. On the other hand, it also allows us to understand why certain things have come about. Some situations occur to strengthen us and draw us closer to the Lord. Even though it may not initially look like a blessing, it is. God’s ways are far from ours; His thoughts are nowhere near ours.

In conclusion, I think about situations that contradict my thinking. They didn’t come to hurt me but to bless me. May this year take you on a new journey of discovery that leads you closer to the blessings and goodness of God. Also, let us learn lessons from our past. “A Blessing Or A Lesson?” you decide. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Proverbs 1:5. I’ll return next week with a new post, “Keep It Together!”
